Was 85/86 32v USA only or ROW?

Was the 32v 85/86 motor USA, or almost USA only with the ROW 16v until 87?

Read the 928GT engine type chart before I posted, what isn't clear to me is if ROW implies Euro, or if its some mix with some countries getting US spec cars and other Euro spec cars. I've heard Japan got some US spec cars, and was under the impression that all of the Canada cars were US spec.

If the 85/86 cars are unique to the USA, thats just a curious point.

the referenced 928 specialist's chart is the only one I've run across, perhaps there are others with more accuracy, but it's a quick reference.

again----read before post. it's easy for some, lazy for others.

The 928 Specialists chart (which I have a couple printed copies of and reference all the time) tells what engine was in a Euro and a US, but it doesn't differentiate between US and ROW, and I haven't noticed it explained anyplace else either.

Somebody like Nicole or Errka will know exactly what is what.

85/86 US models introduced the Porsche 32v V8 to the world. They remain my favorite model year 928 for other reasons too but this was a big factor for me falling in love with the 928 back in 1985...

No...there WERE a few '85 and '86 ROW's that were 32 valve 5.0 liter cars. It WAS an option in Europe and in places around the world to skip the vastly superior S2 16 valve engine for what amounts to the US version engine instead. So it is possible to have an '85 Euro with a correct 32 valve engine. Only a few of these were made.

Was Canada 16 or 32 in 85/86 (excepting Normy's options)?

interesting------

so here we find that strange things were happening overseas between model (32V and 16V) phase in's......Wonderful. Damn car companies just can't make it simple------

in answer to your (original) question, ROW would be "rest of the world", which would include "Euro" productions, meaning not US Spec.

Maybe someone more knowing than I can give us some more contradictions?

Now that you mention it I do remember reading the 32v motor was an option in 85/86 Euro models.
Vastly superior? In what way?
It's hilarious that you Euro guys are all the same with that rumor.

The 16v was not superior in any way to the 32v motors of any year. If it was, then why did Porsche use the 32v motor going forward? And please don't start the how much faster the Euro is because I've shown a few too many my tail-lights to buy into that. A 85/86 US version runs every bit as strong as a same year Euro 928. Don't get me wrong either, I like 84-86 Euro sharks a lot.
