Welcome to the bird forum, how do you like the 5.4?

Sounds like fun. Also sounds like you had a nice place to work on the cars?

People get mad at the 928, 928 community, but the 928 isn't an easy addiction to shake, couple months, maybe six months it sinks in that there is no substitute.

Fairmont is a nice little car, very light, and I think all the Fox chassis parts work. Makes a nice sleeper project.

I keep hearing about Walt like he is the man. Can you relay some stories to those of us who haven't heard them?

There is a wealth of knowledge in that so-called cesspool, so don't write it off so quickly

Renn list has a few that make a lot of noise, and a couple inside jokes. New people are taught that pimping for membership fees and asking for pictures is a "good" thing, being "one of the guys" type of thing. It was nothing personal, and they didn't mean your post was worthless, its just a "phrase", lots of forums use it.

Ignore it.

If your good at searches, in general I think searching is better than posting a question and waiting for help. Most problems will have been posted and answered many times, and very often the OLDER answers are the best ones. Then you just have to sift the answers for what seems to best suit your specific problem.

Its not a bad place to chat though, on any 928 topic 24/7. That an there is some new stuff being done or tried, but its a big mix of knowledgeable and not contributing.

Geez....I think the comment about worthless without pics was taken a little too strong by you. That is the common response to someone who posts about a new car and doesn't include pics of it. To take that as a negative is a little too crazy.

There may be one stupid post for every 50 good ones. Personally, I think there is a wealth of knowledge there, and I haven't run across too many 3000 post people who don't know something about their car.

I don't spend much time on Pelican's 928 board as it pales by comparison, and after getting on it last night, it looks like its as much a used car ad forum as anything. Good luck here if you get into a jam.

Well John Taylor, you sure do seem to have an axe to grind about Rennlist. It seems a little silly to me but to each his own. You will find that you are in a cesspool here as well. There are less turds because its a much smaller pool. The turd ratio is much higher here than on Rennlist I assure you.

Good luck with your new car. It sounds nice. I won't say that this thread is worthless without pics since you are so sensitive. I will say that the thread is worth less without them. Come on, cough up some pictures so we can admire Walt's handiwork. Pretty please?

Thanks

Well, you ought to let the pretty strong 928 crowd in DFW know when you have one of your TX trips planned. Many of us spend some time on Renn, have nice cars AND know what we're doing. We still like to meet other 928 owners whether they pay dues on Rennlist or not.

I don't think "broad brush strokes" work much in this jumbled up world we live in now days.

I wonder sometimes if the 16k or so 928's left in the US, aren't divided into 10k perfectly happy owners who wouldn't sell for any price and hand down the cars to family members, and 6k cars with long histories of problems that get sold every few years to a new sucker.

Most of the people online with 928's are in the second group, they have cars with problems, and problems getting the problems fixed. Without places like renn list and Pelican many of the owners of these problem cars would be screwed, and its not like we walk out looking for trouble, or cars with warped interiors, sometimes a 928 just follows you home.
