New without getting the lock to match your existing key looks like about $150, used damaged and repaired was about $45.

New 911 caps are $27, so maybe somebody should see if one would work.

Description in the Pelican catalog noted people failing smog inspection with old caps.

Its sweet to have a parts car.

I wonder what gets damaged and repaired on the used ones?

I don't have any emissions to pass or anything like that but I don't like driving the car without one either. Maybe I can find one of our suppliers with a used one.

Thanks
Brian

I know that many fuel systems pressurize the tank a little. Not to mention just letting dirt in. I an not in need of a locked one since its not outside much.

If anybody has one from a parts car please chime in.

Jimmy not to be too much of a vulture, but what is going to happen with your crunched wreck?

Brian, put a wanted in the classified section, and take your time, one will show up given all the guys parting cars. I can't let go of mine until I make that first irreversible "parting out" action, but that won't be much longer.

Airbags are why I don't want to go newer than 89, and some people don't want to go older than 90. I think they do add safety, but were not really designed with a 20+ year life, and when they go off its often enough more damage to total the car, before even thinking about the cost to replace the air bags.

Sorry to hear about, but a good settlement and maybe you will end up with a nicer 928. I hope the car gets to some dismantler, and not straight to a metal scrapper.

Brian, I think I have just what you're looking for.
I've had my 79 euro for about 5-6 years and early on I was FASCINATED that you could get so many used parts on E-Bay!
My cap fit loosely, and I found a used one on the afforementioned aucton site thinking it would fit better. No such luck, the neck on my car was much too large, probably whatever worked to have it federalised in the 80's.
Tim

P.S......it IS keyed, but you could prolly disable that, and it's a pretty red. :-)
