How hot is hot?
On a 99 degree day, humidity low, AC off, the car's temperature was just above the last temperature guage bar, not into the red though. Is this normal?
I have a new fan clutch so don't think that was the issue. Don't know these cars well enough yet so I'm trying to understand what is normal, and what is not. Michael

I don't know how hot is too hot, and don't trust dash gauges much, but if I see much movement above the point where the thermostat opens and it normally runs on a cool day etc., then I am not happy and want it "fixed". I can't see having the aux fan come on as "normal".
How sure are you the new clutch fan is good? If not stored vertically I hear they go bad even if brand new. I have a $10 IR thermometer from HF and a $20 DMM with a thermocouple from Sears, and its kind of nice to put a number on what hot or cold is.

Thank you. I guess I figured they would want to keep it a little bit cooler than that but wanted to make sure that was appropriate.
