After Market Wheels 1984 928

Who would you recommend for after market wheels for my 1984 928. I have been offered original 7Jx16 used factory wheels but from several advertisements on the internet it looks like you can buy new more modern wheels for the same price.

All I had originally been looking for were two of the flat faced 7Jx16 but they must be getting hard to come by.

Any help would be appreciated, Karen

The flat wheels with the slots are the MOST common wheels and the cheapest in the 7" size. Pretty much zero demand, and a set on every car that gets an upgrade that needs to be gotten rid of. $100 should get you a pair EASY, hold out for a local pair you can pick up without shipping, if not a pair with good tires.

I have a set of phone dials and a set of flats for sale if you are interested. Reasonably priced.

PM me or post here......

The best option I found was a set of Carrera aftermarket wheels from Eurowheel USA. $900 for the set of 4 delivered to my door. 10" rear and 8" front...these wear a 225 front and a 265 rear, though you could go wider on both ends.

I would not mess around with used wheels unless they are dirt cheap...the prices have come way down on the good aftermarket stuff.

928 wheel prices vary from free to something like $7k a set for a really fancy wheels. Porsche OEM wheels tend to be very high quality, often light weight wheels, and dealers love to mark up the price on new Porsches by replacing the factory wheels with something more expensive, so brand new pull offs with nice tires are common.

16" wheels are the cheapest, but are limited in width and variety of tires and tire sizes.
18" wheels tend to cost the most and offer the most.
17" wheels fall in the middle, maybe the "value" option.

If your on a budget, then what you find in your price range may make the choice for you. Otherwise you need to think about what you want from the wheels, track performance, looks, larger selection of tires, and work from that. $500 to $1000 opens up most of the possibilities for a nice set of wheels AND tires. Getting an almost new set of tires is what kicks up the value, as long as you make sure of what you are getting and want.

5 spoke 997 carrera wheels have a great offset for this car and are often on ebay in the 18'' size.

Danglerb, I am interested in a pair of 7Jx16 flat faced 1984 928 wheels but might consider a set if the price and shipping wasn't too dreadful. My wheels along with most of the ones I have seen were a goldish color. I am in east Texas at 75670. Could you please provide an estimate.

Thanks, Karen

Karen,

Try a PM to RHJames a couple messages above, (just click on his name to the left of the message and a drop down menu with send a private message will show up), or Roger at www.928rus.com, both of them are in TX. Shipping just a wheel UPS is around $30 each, but local and no shipping is better.

The gold tint is the aged factory anodizing, and I like it too. I'm even thinking a bit about having mine reanodized for about $525 a set.

ROH Drift-R wheels for Porsche offsets

RoH Drift-R: available in both silver & black finish: about $1200 for the wheels.

18x10, & 18x8. Works on lowered 928's too, but not "slammed".

Mark
