Identify this electrical connection - under dash
Any body know what these connections go to? There are under the dash and they are not plugged into anything.
Thoughts? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1196038547.jpg |
Do all of your pod switches work? Fog/trip etc? Looks like one off of those.

The large connector is for the ROW rear fog light switch, in place of the US odometer button.
As far as I could figure out, the two spade connectors are for a Japanese market speed warning buzzer, triggered by the (special for Japan) speedometer. |
Yes. Everything seems to work just fine. The pod one looks like it was taped over from the factory. The tape on it was covering the opening and it was just shoved up there. I wasn't sure what it was for.
The other one is the leads, one blue one brown. Not sure where they might plug into if anything. Previous owners have done some interesting things (starter was in up-side-down) so I'm never sure what they might have done. Michael |
I have a Euro 1984 928S.
I have read & front fog lights, in fact all 6 switch places on the pod are full & utilised. I also have a ghost switch, just like Michael.... (+ the two cables) Maybe it's for a different kind of switch? Everything is fully functional. I'm hoping it might be the hidden "Fix the car automatically" button - can't seem to find that one yet:rolleyes: |
Thank you. That makes sense. Most appreciated.

Pauwl - your is the opposite - its the unused USA dash reset switch connector. You have a seperate button for this. The pod wiring loom was the same between USA & ROW they just varied what switch went where and which connector was unused & taped up. USA has no rear fog lights so uses that lower position for the dash reset and has no extra button.

I've been following some of the stuff on Rennlist you've been saying as well. I think I've identified you as one of the following: 1) You were born with the 928 schematics imprinted in your head 2) You had a Matrix-style upload of them at some point in time (tell us how) 3) You are the guy who designed it all. From now I will call you Uber-Alan. Pauwl |

2) No - It took a lot longer than that... there are no shortcuts I'm afraid 3) No - but I feel I now understand how & why they did things. Many of the projects I have done - rely on that idea - If Porsche had done it how would they have implemented it... I do still get surprised - usually pleasantly - by how much thought went into this car. Alan |
