Fabricating a condenser shield

Like other sports cars I've owned in the past, I noticed that my 88' S4 is quite the "junk collector" upon removing the a/c condenser. I was quite surprise how much junk (i.e. leaves, candy wrappers, etc) had accumulated between the condenser and the radiator. I am thinking it might be a good idea to fabricate a "condenser shield" out of hardware screen with hopes with will reduce the amount of junk that gets through the front facia (this worked well all the Corvettes I previously owned). Have any of you fabricated one of these before and do you have any tips?
