ABS light intermittent

Want to chase this one down during the X-mas break:

Sometimes the ABS light comes on.
When it comes on, it stays on until re-start.
I THINK that when the light is on ABS is also not actually working (limited test performed).
When the light is off, ABS DOES work.

The light comes one while driving and when hitting a bump. It is consistently on hitting a bump, but not when hitting a bump the first time.

So sometimes I drive 700km with lots of bumps, no ABS light on.
Other time after 60-70km's I hit a bump and the light comes on. After stopping to re-fuel the light is off again.

I'm thinking just replace the relay. Any opinions?

thanks,

Pauwl

Check the connections in the wheel well. You might have one that is not tight, or have a ground connection at the spindle area that has come loose.
