Who bought #57 on ebay?

Ebay shows Alex928fun as the winner for $2500, anybody know who that is?

I had a chat with the seller----

claimed he represented everything accurately......not!!!!

I'm surprised it brought that much......

I'm pretty sure the seller is the guy that posted several times on rennlist about an "early" car, didn't listen to what people told him and bought it to flip. Wouldn't surprise me if the ebay sale falls through when the buyer gets a first hand look at the car, or does a bit of research. What slips past a lot of people is that the first 600 928's were sold in Europe before the US cars shipped "with the same VIN numbers", maybe even 3 cars could have the same vin (Euro, Japan, and US) so US 57 could be "around" #700 in actual production.

***usual disclaimer about how I don't have a clue***

to a potential collector this car is worth more than to the average buyer, you'd be surprised at some of the differences in the really early cars, I know the owner of #29 and there are subtle differences not noticed by many people
that being said, there were a little over 100 RoW cars sold in 77 and 13 sold in the US... the "twin" vin is true, sort of
example:
9288100034 my 77 Euro
9288200034 it's US spec "twin"
this hold true thru 80, in 81 all vins went to a 17 digit universal system and euros are defined by the ZZZ in the cars vin

Hopefully 9288200057 has gone into the hands of a collector willing and able to restore it.

So, the 92882 means US 78, or just 78?

928 = model 928
8 - 1978
2 = US 1 = RoW
0xxxx = serial number
