Turning into concourse judges

Dunno why, but I am slowly getting way too picky about details on cars. I was looking at a really sharp 95 GTS today, but I couldn't resist giving the rear quarter window rubber a 6" inspection for signs of a repaint (yup, nobody seems to get the rubber back to factory). I sure hope this is a phase I'm going through.

While in this phase, the proper use of the term "concours" should be observed. Concourse is not the same as concours. ;) You might find a concourse at an airport but you might find a 928 at a concours......

What about an educational program for inmates?

Here in SoCal we also have a con Coors.

I'm still looking for the first repaint more than a couple months old that looks good.

maybe, but for some of us.....it's a necessary thing. ;)

Picky is a relative term......the average guys "picky" is downright disgusting for die hard PCA Parade level concours guys..... The best way to tell if there has been a repaint is to measure the paint with a ultrasonic meter like the deflsko.....

One of these will only tell you if it has paint over paint, that doesn't concern me as much as paint on the rubber, rubber not replaced, rubber replaced poorly, rubber not removed so proper sanding can be done, etc. Stuff you can tell by looking closely, if the paint looks "good" why should I care? (excluding recent paint looking good)

I'll tell ya' this, finding a 928, or any car for that matter that hasn't had any previous paintwork for one reason or another, is like finding a needle in a haystack. As long as it's a used car, it's next to impossible. And yes, this goes for the 15K 928's as well. Oh, and also regardless of what the original owner tells you too! ;)

I'm sorry to hear you've got this new disease. It's gonna take alot of the fun out of the game for you now, seeing as how nearly 99.75% of them are not 100% perfect, nor 100% original paint either. :(

I guess finding the paintwork now becomes the new challenge. Adds a whole new dimension to the game, along with alot of disappointment as well. :(
