option code 048?

The '91 GT I just purchased has, in addition to a ton of other additional options I've aleady decoded, has option code 048. Does anyone know what this is or have it as well on their 928? Thanks in advance.............

Todd :)

Strange question, yes, but on another 928 I owned some time ago, the paint codes were listed together/overlapped with option codes on the sticker in the rear hatch area. The door jamb label in the drivers door was bunged up and unreadable. I think mine was called Apricot Beige, which was paint option 548, and the numbers being smeared a bit, looked like 048. Went nuts for a while trying to find what color 048 was.

It's actually not a paint code, but an option code. The option codes for this car read in this order: C02 XD4 048 158 418 474 498 570 650 935 980 09991. The Exclusive Program (option code 09991) is where, at the least, it received the optional CD-2 in-dash CD player in place of it's original and outdated option code 158 (Blaupunkt Reno 2 cassette player). Good move there! ;) But 048 has really got me dumbfounded?

Thanks for playing though! :)

is this 048 on your sticker?
my db and Porsche's jive, here is what we show
C02
158
418
474
498
570
650
980
XD4
could be a misprint, is there anything else on the car not listed?

Yes, 935 is showing on the sticker as well as 048 and 09991, all of which your Porsche guy did not show with his info. What is on the car that is not on the sticker is 691 (CD-2), which I'll have to assume was added while in the 09991 program. So, your guy's data is not showing my 935 or my 048, huh?

Apparentely, we've got a mystery car abrewin' here, Rixter! ;)

BTW Rixter, excellent reply, and the only intelligent one on that RL "would you pay" thread. I might bump your $1K bid for the privilige of some time in the cage myself.

I wasn't joking, I'd like to kick a couple of their asses
but back on topic... the only 48 I've come across is a special option code for a Blaupunkt Stuttgart Radio option for this year range, which might explain the change in the radio...
a few months ago Porsche changed their systems, I and my source don't get info the way we used to, it used to be VERY concise, now I'm lucky to get all the Mcodes correctly, and they keep dropping interior codes on me

Where exactly in the series of numbers does that 048 show up? Can you post a pic?

I won't have the car in my possession until the 25th, so I'll post a picture of the sticker then, but the current owner read them to me in the order in which they read like this:

C02 XD4 048 158 418 474 498 570 650 935 980 09991

so I got to thinking... suppose he's not seeing it right, maybe it's faded or dirty
what potential numbers could it be?
has to be a 0 to start since it's before the 158, last number has to be 0 or 8, there are no low number options ending in 3, middle number could be 4 or 1
so that leaves only 1 real possibility of known options
018 - extended hub

Good guess. And I'll bet your probably right too, though I haven't really seen alot of post '89 cars with option code 018. But it seems like the most logical guess at this point. Regardless, I'll take a closer look at all the interior shots to see if I can see that extra 1/2 inch section or not. If there's good evidence in any of the shot's of an elevated hub, I'll post the pics for all to check out. And thanks for the extra effort with your Porsche insider, Rixter. ;)
