Auto Trans. Cable Needed 83-86

This is for an 18 year old S-4 owner who does all of his own work on the car. He is struggling to get the car back on the road after a transmission failure. Any help would be appreciated. He is willing to buy it, I'm not asking for charity.

EDIT: The part needed is a pressure cable from an 85 or 86 auto. This is the only part that will work.

Whitefox never found one?

Do you know what it looks like, part number etc.?

I may have it off my 84 Euro.

I believe the problem has been a series of unrealistically short deadlines combined with some confusion as to what model year part is needed.

He is 18, living on his own after a big mix up with his dad, guessing no credit card so payment is complicated, and even back then he always needed the part in 3 days or by the weekend etc, which means nobody that isn't kind of local could do it without overnighting etc.

Pretty sure I have that cable from my 84 Euro, $25 and shipping, but I would like some way to be sure its what he needs and that its in good shape.

He was 17 when he got the car and posted to rennlist. He turns 19 in early June. 928 Intl and 928 motorsports do not have this part right now.

Danglerb, I will see if I can get some clarification for you.

Thanks

EDIT: I just got some more info. Its the kick down cable. I believe its on the passenger side of the trans. and it sort of sticks straight up. It has a black plastic piece on the end that plugs into the trans.

Sorry for the vague details, I have never worked on an automatic 928. Mine are 5 speeds.

Yes Rogue, you are right. i just checked 928Intl. and it does have to be an 85 or 86 pressure cable. This is getting frustrating. The car is now at the house of a firefighter who won't be home until Fri. to take any pics. A pressure cable for an 85-86 is what he needs. Anyone?

SorryDanglerb, I guess yours ( 84 ) won't work. Thanks for your generous offer.

I don't know. As I said, I have never worked on an automatic 928. It sounds like a valid point. I will bring this up.

Right now we are hoping to be able to reuse the S-4 cable but change the end that goes into the trans. Do you have any idea if this is feasable?

Yes, your right.

He doesn't post much and I don't want to bother him outside of the interwebs.
