I need someone to check something for me on '84-86 euro wire sets
If anyone has an extra euro wire set, I need to see if any of the connectors at the distributor caps unscrew ala the spark plug ends?
To do this, You'll need a toothpick or a probe to slide between the connector & the wire to run the perimeter of the wire to break the bond of time. Then, it should unscrew about 3-4x before coming out to expose a brass, threaded terminal on the end, like this picture. MArk ![]()

Mark, I can check, I have both the old and the new set of wires off my 84 and 85, but the old still might not be original. How are the parts listed on Eagleday.com?

Neat site, though nothing seen. If you can verify, that'd be swell (Golly-gee!)

I looked over my old sets of wires, and they are the same as 928Intl currently sells, screw at the plugs, crimp at the distributor. Greg was in the middle of building a motor, which limits conversation, but the impression I get is that the distributor end used to be screw on as well and was preferred to the current crimp.
You can see in this pict, there isn't room for more than a crimp at the distributor end. ![]() |
