Does trans and diff fluid need to be warm prior to draining?

Do you folks think it is necessary for the fluids in the automatic transmission and differential in my 1988 S4 to be warm prior to draining? I am sure the fluids will drain much faster if warm, just wondering if it is worth the risk of getting burned.
