How does one disable the #@%&ing tire pressure monitoring system?

I've seen it mentioned many times before, and know there's a definitive way to disable the tire pressure monitoring system on a '91 model year 928, but can't seem to find the directions via any search engines.

Can someone please let me know how this is done, or cut and paste the directions from another thread it's already been discussed on. I need to give the procedure to my mechanic so that he can get it done.

Very irritating! Thanks in advance for any help........

Todd

The unit is under the dash on the left hand side of the steering column. Simply unplug it (I also chose to remove it from the car but many don't) and install a jumper wire between pins 2 and 13 on the harness connector. Very easy and works. Did this on my '91 GT after repeated false alarms. The unit is a silver/metal colored box about the size of a postcard IIRC.

PS
Pull back the rubber cover back on the connector to reveal the numbering to find 2 & 13.

and here's a link.....http://www.928.org.uk//content/view/59/119/

Okay, the disabling worked perfectly, and it no longer lights up the entire lower digital readout area with "low tire pressure" and the pointing arrows of the falsely read low tires. But the little red square at the top of the dash that would always stay on even after you cleared the lower digital portion is still lighting up after about 5-10 seconds and stays on. I even disconnected the battery at both terminals for about 2 hours and it still comes on. What gives? Do you need to bring in the "Hammer" or something after disabling the system?

The car is already sold and on carrier headed to it's new owner out west, but I need to tell the buyer what to do to get the light out, at my expense of course, once the car actually arrives.

Thanks, Todd
