Drivers Edge, teen driving program
My son had a chance to take this half day driving class last Sunday, and I can report that it was both a lot of fun for him, and very good experience.
Its free, sponsored by Bridgestone, BMW, and I think VW and a few smaller groups plus donations. Targeted at new drivers, under 18, its fast paced and mostly hands on. It starts with registration, donuts, a pretest, and a group presentation of all the background info. Five groups then rotate through five exercises, a hood open Q&A, a wet track skid recovery, wet track braking turn, a dry track lane change and brake, and a talk with a couple California Highway Patrol guys on license details, drinking, responsibility with a Q&A and walking the line with vision distortion goggles. If you have kids just starting to drive in the age range you should try it. www.driversedge.com |
