No Spark

need help

84 Euro, twin distributor, 16V 310 hp, auto. Car has not run for approximately 6-9 months. Just going through the motions of rebuilding the fuel system, ignition, electricals, etc.....trying to rescue it from DEAD.

I replaced all fuses, replaced relay that controls ignition, engine turns over, but does not fire. coils have 12 V at both sides of the 12V posts (checked with multi-meter) with ignition switch "ON".

test to be performed: remove spark plug, connect to plug cable and turn over engine to see if spark arcs across plug electrodes. previous test prior to relay change revealed no spark.

observation (Russ): no wires (12V) connected to twin distributor (as with earlier 16V green wire)---I understand there is a crank sensor, similar to the 32V engines, but nothing connected to the distributor at present other than coil/spark plug cables.

used search but found little helpful info, not much on PET, no copy of FWM with me to research.....

suggestions?

:mad::confused:

Flywheel sensor? Its on the back of the engine at the top of the bellhousing.

IIRC the relay supplies a + voltage to one side of the coil and the ignition modules pull the other side to ground to make a spark. No signal or a bad one from the flywheel sensor and no spark.

I'm thinking the engine actually has to turn over a full revolution for the TDC or whatever it is to be detected.
