starting probl when engine is hot
 

hay guys i have an 928 S 83 and when a drove for a while and the elec engine fan goes on the engine will shot off and wont start afer 5 to 10 min.
what i have notice that when the elec fan goes on the volt meter will drop below 12 v and then the engine will shot of. If i hold the gas paddle and the engine idle stays above 1000 rpm the engine will stay on . But if i turn of the engine it wont start again.

If the electric fan is coming on that means your clutch fan isn't working and the engine is overheating, put that at the top of must fix list.

The voltmeter in the dash is often not accurate. Use a real meter on the battery or the jump post and measure the voltage (a long set of test leads carefully routed back inside the car helps).

Low voltage could have a number of sources;

Alternator belt isn't tensioned properly.
Battery is going bad.
Alternator is going bad.
Ground points need cleaning.
Connections at alternator, starter, or jump post need cleaning.
Idle speed too low.
Car isn't idling well for some other reason.

i have check the temp ones already it was between 203 and 206.
i dont now what the running temp is , but i have compare it with an other car and for mi it was ok. but maybe i am wrong. i will check it again thanks. could you check it for me because i am from aruba and i dont have much information here. SmileWavy

How and where did you check the temperature?

Aux fan is set to come on just before the max safe temperature, and its a pretty sure sign either the clutch fan isn't working properly, or the radiator is clogged.

i had check the temp by putting an sensor between the radiator of my car and another car ,it had the min defrences.
however i will check everyting again and let jou know. thanksSmileWavy

I can't think of a safe effective way you could be measuring the coolant temperature.

Instead try this when your engine is hot, turn it off, open the hood and see how much the clutch fan resists turning. When hot it should be hard to turn with the motor off.

Mechanical water temperature gauges work quite well.

Once the pressurized system is opened. ;)

One of the IR non contact thermometers might do the job too.

Measuring the outside temperature of the radiator I am not sure is valid, thats why I am asking how he is measuring and where.
