Wiring Question for 1985 928s
I just purchased a 1985 928s and wanted to put it through inspection in the state of Maryland. The gear indicator light for drive was the only thing holding me back so upon learning that I could not replace the bulb because it was LED I found a replacement instrument cluster. When I replaced the instrument cluster only half of the lights worked and other things like the gas gauge stopped, I placed the original cluster back in only to have it do the same thing as the replacement. Any advice is greatly appreciated, and please know that I am a rookie this is my first Porsche.

Clean the grounds. There is a major ground on the steering column.
Clean harness connection at jump post. Most ,if not all of it, has to do with the dash. Fuse #10 also. That's for starters...let us know what if anything this does. BTW...you should be able to replace the bulb...its soldered in but doable.

Check the plugs on the back of the cluster, its easy to switch them around and get weird panel functionality.

Why do you say they are LEDs - on a stock configuration car they are not - all are incandescent and easily replaced (once you get into the pod)....
Anyway not so hard to do. Alan
