Hello all, this is my first post, and i hope that you can help me anwer some questions. I have an 86 928s and love it, however, im haveing a few gremlins.
1. my shift times seem to be off, when hammered it shifts out of 1st at 5 grand. is there any way to adjust this? 2. my reverse lights are not working when in reverse... is there a switch or relay somwhere that i can check? my shift plate/boot is a little jacked up, could that be the problem? 3. my throttle linkage pops off randomly... the linkage fits on the knob loosely and just bounces off sometimes... anyone know where i can find a retainer clip or somthing that will correct this? 4.anyone know of any websites that have in-expensive aftermarket parts of these cars? id like to find alot of things, so anything would be of help... thank you for your help and i look forward to your responses... ![]() |

Item 2- There is a connector in the spare tire well that you will want to clean the contacts on, they may be corrosion from battery fumes. Or you may need a new switch for the tranny, it is mounted on the drivers side. Try the connector first. Item 3- there should be a clip that holds that in place, 928 Intl or 928sRus will have that clip and just about anything else you could ever need... Item 4- www.************ or www.928intl.com Congrats on the '86!!

thank you for your advise... ill look into that this weekend...
tell me a liitle bit about this "super shark stage III 500HP thing"... ive been looking EVERYWHERE for performance mods and such and well they are few and far between... and the ones i do find are like 12 - 13 grand... Ive had an exhaust system custom fabricated by a local race shop.... and it opened it up alot, and it sounds wicked... but i want more! lol also i was thinking about taking my intake manifold off and painting it an exotic color with porsche lettering in Red.... but im not sure how in depth the removal of this manifold is.... im used to domestic cars like camaros trans ams mustangs etc... ive worked on my fair share of ls1 and lt1 engines...but this is a little new to me.... Is it any harder to remove this part on my porsche? if its not i think i might give it a go... thanks again for your help... i look forward to hearing back from u. also, any modifications or sugestions you may have..or just ideas... they would all be welcome... thanx |

Then I added the Supercharger. It is a Stage III Murf kit based on the Vortec supercharger and uses a custom air/water intercooler and was sharktuned on a eddy current dyno. Kit cost me $8500. ![]() Website: www.murf928.com Mark Robinson on this forum offers the midmount single turbo kit that also is developed around the '86.

My 86 also shifts early from 1st to 2nd, and I think that is how it is designed.
Other shifts are at redline. Reverse lights --- you will probably need an electric meter and need to trace some wires. From the transmission sensor to the lights you may have a dirty connection or broken wire. Its hard to access the electric connections under the bumper cover that lead into the light fixtures, but I've had those be corroded, also, a bad/crimped/broken wire at the sensor in the tranny. Do you have the wiring diagrams? The linkage located at the fan bracket requires a special Porsche clip. Might find it here on Pelican, or at your local dealer --- a few dollars each. Aftermarket parts sources are very limited for repair parts. Some speed parts can be found, but are limited too, but I think you really need to dig deep into online forums to become educated before buying.
