old part in new box = great surprise for my turbo 928!!
Ok, I wasn't THAT excited about my shakedown dyno passes: my boost controller was not set up right (user-error), and the car *could* have spooled faster, but hey, since I'm running a larger turbo, I chaulked it up to that.
I recently purchased a 944 turbo S, that once received, was determined to be down on power. I checked the BOV (Blow off valve), it was bad. Figures, so, I pulled the one off my 928: it was bad too! Brand new unit I thought: wrong. It was a new box with an old valve in it where someone had purchased a new BOV, then returned it with the old in the box: classic auto part theft. So, last night for the first time, I drove the T928 with a fresh BOV in place: wow, what a HUGE effing difference. Once warmed up, I had full tire smoke at 3/4 throttle in first gear, no traction in 2nd, and spun much of 3rd gear: I've gotta dyno this thing again. Boost controller peak boost indicated 5.39psi. Bottom line: my larger T67 Ballbearing turbocharger spools MUCH faster than my prior T61 non-ballbearing turbocharger. Wow. Incredible torque, very fast spool, and I' haven't even finished my intercooler yet. I can't wait... Mark

Seems like a pleasant surprise, and sigh of relief as well.

MArk,
how bout an updated dyno run? If my car doesn't find a buyer at the close of the Ebay auction I think i will invest in either some turbo goodies, or go the NA route and look for an X-pipe and some intake mod's. Would love to know where your at now HP wise on 6psi boost.

Ryan you in-town? There's a ferrari-club breakfast that a few 928'ers are going to, me included. I'd be happy to give ya a ride.
![]() 6psi is stupid quick: I'm still tuning, but I'm having issues getting the 285's to stick at 80mph. I'd say 6psi is somewhere near 440-450rwhp/tq. Mark

LaMadeline bakery, Beecaves & 360 (SE corner of the intersection, in that shopping plaza, all the way on the south end. Starts at about 9:30. I should be there until about 10:30 or so.
I've done about 11 clutche changes outs etc. on the DD 928's, so I can assist ya: not too hard. Mark
