85 Euro cooler ?

Two issues:
One of the oil return line bolts in the top of the pan is stripped has anyone repaired these with out removing the oil pan?

There is a issue with the condenser it is too far over to the Drivers side and the lamp motor is hitting it.
Looks like there is a cooler with two hoses connected to it in the front air dam area. Is this part of the air pump if so can I remove it?
I can reroute the hoses if need be to allow for the condenser to move over.
Any feedback?

What is the cooler used for it is located in the front on a 85 Euro it is about 4x6 with two hoses attached to it.

the stripped holes (--you said bolts) could possibly be repaired with a metric helicoil kit. These are available from your local parts store......

The air pump does not have a cooler. It does have a filter (can). If you remove this filter, you should either replace it, or remove the entire air pump assembly. As you are in Florida, you will not need this system for any smog checks.

As for any other coolers in front of the radiator/evaporator, these (probably) are add-ons. What the cooler is for is anybody's guess at this point. Follow the lines and determine what the cooler is used for>>>>>is it for the transmission (manual or automatic?) or is it an addition of the engine oil.

The oem cooler for the autotrans would be internal in the passenger side radiator side tank. The oem cooler for the engine oil would be in the driver's side radiator side tank.

Again....without pictures, this cooler issue is purely a guess at this point.

My 84 Euro has a little cooler up front as well, but I don't know what was hooked up to it. Sure looked factory to me though. I think its for the AT tranny.

trace the lines-----

many (most?) of the slushbox coolers were integral to the passenger side radiator tank.

Euro's have a mind of their own.......

After a little research, I found that the later Euro's did come with an auxiliary trans cooler, in addition to the integral cooler in the radiator.

Trace your lines, see where they lead. You'll have your answer for sure.

Russ, the car is in my driveway and the lines are in a drain pan in my garage. 84 Euro is now a shell with just a few more parts to take off.

I had this same issue with the bolts for the oil return on my own '85 S2. I couldn't even get to it with a drill, due to the harmonic balancer being in the way, so I took it to a local shop. They were able to pull the balancer/pulley and get at the bad bolt. They drilled it and tapped it out.

As to coolers, I think that part is a transmission cooler for the automatic transmission. My car is a 5 speed, and does not have it.
