85 cam bearing top?
I was looking in PET6 and the parts diagram shows the 85 cam bearing top piece as item 27, but doesn't call out a parts number. Anything special about it, like its a matched part to the head or something? Driver side front piece is cracked on my motor and I am looking for replacement if that's a reasonable way to go.

it is a matched piece to the head. if you find another cap from a damaged head you will probably have to have it line bored.

Nuts, I guess what I have instead of a head are some spare head parts.
![]() With that bearing cracked as well as one of the stud mounts for the cover, good excuse to fully disassemble the head and look at the rest of the parts. Maybe this will end up as my guinea pig to cut in half and examine the port wall thickness etc. |

Yes, this is what I had to do with my 968 valve prepped heads that came without caps. I think it was several hundred to have line bored too.
