WUR electronic replacement, allows BOOST

Anyone have experience with this set up? Looks very cool for the K-jet guys like me. Might make Turbo dreams a little easier.

This shop is listed as an installer, and its just down the street from me. I'll stop in and ask them about it when I get a chance this week.

All the shops seem to be MB, but I only looked a little.

$700? Seems pretty steep for what you get. AFAIK the cold start circuit doesn't have enough capacity to do much with.

Hi Fabio. I beg to differ on the usefulness of using the warm up regulator to adjust WOT throttle conditions. The WUR has the ability to control the mixture at any point by changing the control pressure and having the control pressure servo controlled should open the doors for alot of adjustability.
None of that would matter though on a 30 year old fuel distributor that needs to be rebuilt. Maybe if the company offered free fuel distributor rebuilds?

this might just be a perfect match to Carl Fausett's modified fuel distributor......and they even make one for turbo/sc setups.

things are looking better for CIS all the time.

Not when you can convert to full standalone EFI for around $1k

Switching to stand alone would also need the 84+ Euro S intake runners, correct? This system would allow some adjustment while retaining the original K-jet mechanical injectors. Still kinda steep, but if your going boost it might be easier (Not cheaper) than a stand alone conversion.

Switching to EFI as long as you can find a donor parts car isn't terribly expensive, buying parts one at a time it gets pricey REAL fast. The 84+ injector holes are different, but the intakes can be found for $300 to $400, then add wiring harnesses, and the big one, making it work.

Having messed around with it the last year, I've gotten both more aware of the mess it can be, and braver about jumping into it. Once you know there is light at the end of the tunnel, being long and tedious work isn't enough to dissuade me.

i have it installed on my 928, my car is on their web site:

http://unwiredtools.com/mh_porsche_928_utcis-v.shtml

i have had no problems with it since installing it. all that it needs is a very simple mapping of the fuel pressures to match the factory workshop manual specs for CIS. can be done from a laptop during idle. i have been running with it since march 2008, i use my 928 to drive to work and back M-F about 50 miles total a day. there is no real performance benefit, unless your WUR is bad. it is possible to fine tune your air fuel mixture at WOT which might yield a little HP. it also has a 5 year warranty ( rebuilt WURs don't offer this ) and it is super easy to monitor what your control pressure is doing. i am planning on installing a innovate lc-1 that i bought to fine tune but i just have not had the time.

easier to install and cheaper than EFI and gives more stable control than the stock WUR. the turbo capable unit is a little pricey though.

I wonder if something like this programmable fuel pressure controller might work (controls by changing pump speed).

not on 928 systems---

it's for "return-less" fuel pump systems.

Always good to have someone who's tried the product and can give a good analysis of the good, bad, and the ugly.

thanks----

FYI. I just ordered the UTCIS-PT. Kinda of pricey, but it allows great control while keeping the CIS system. Control pressure (And therefor A/F) is adjustable by manifold vacuum or boost across the entire RPM range. IT will work when I go boost int eh future and allow fine tuning for bigger cams now. I have the LM-1 with data logger so I should be able to dial things in pretty quick. I'll post up instal and tuning pics.

And before someone sells "Megasquirt..." It's often about the journey, not the destination. Some people just like to tinker and try new things. To be different. The CIS is a very sophisticated system. The design is beautiful and a pleasure to work on one you understand setting control pressure and A/F. With somework on the distributor, lager fuel lines, and a bigger fuel pump, my CIS will easily support 450RWHP. Carl is working right now on a better distributor that will go higher. Since my N2O has it's own fuel source, it doesn't steal from the CIS supply.
