hurricane Ike update

well, this has certainly been a challenge.

Ike came in a week ago Friday, and ran right over the top of us. We figure that here in my town, we got hit with at least three tornadoes in addition to 100mph+ winds. Rain wasn't too big of an issue, until the San Jacinto river started to rise a few days later.

As with many folks, we lost power at 10:30 pm Friday night, before the storm actually got to us. Power was finally restored here at 8:30pm last night-----10 days without.

I was running my two generators powering 11 homes. Gas was very scarce the first few days, but got better with generators being brought in to power the gas stations. Then it became an issue of stations running out of gas, and long lines.

My trucks were dealing with FEMA (hauling relief supplies), another nightmare that should have sent me over the edge to insanity.....another repeat of "Katrina".

No major damage to my house per se, but the entire area looks like a war zone. Trees on top of houses, in houses, in the streets (although cut and placed out of the way quickly by the residents), and houses/businesses with blue tarps on them now.

Other 928er's in the area apparently are in good shape, with little or no damage or injuries, but with power issues as well.

What a mess------

Glad you guys are ok. In europe here we really have no clue what damage a hurricane can do - all we see is the pictures - n ot the underlying pain/stress/etc.

Glad to hear you are doing fine. As a Katrina survivor I can honestly say I know what you guys are going through down there. All the best, godspeed!
