leak?

It has been raining quiet abit and i normally have a cover on the car, but i have noticed water on the inside of the car. had a look and all the passenger side was soaking. looks like the leak is coming from above the central electrics. there is something that looks like a black vent there which is leaking. i pushed on the vent and a pile of water came out, seems like theres a well up there. what is this vent? the water must be getting somewhere has anyone else had this problem?need to stop this fast!

The blower is behind a metal barrier on each side, one between it and engine, and one between it and the inside of the car. The motor barrier has a flap for water to drain out into the engine compartment. If leaves or other debris gets into the blower area the drain gets blocked and eventually water drains into the cabin.

Take off the plastic cowl panel cover, over the wiper and blower motors in front of the windshield and clean the area out.

Get the electric panel dry as soon as possible. You may need to clean all the connections if they have started to corrode.

I'm not sure if you can see if from below, but you might be able to see it with the air filter box out. I'll look for a picture to post.

Take a look at the black flap about a foot down and foot from the left side of the bay.

You've probably noticed or realised, but for the benefit of others with RHD cars, its worth noting that on your car, the flap will be on the other side than shown in danglerb's picture.

The HVAC system and electric system are mirror images going from LHD to RHD cars.

edit: Oh - you can poke the flap from beneath the car if you put it on a lift or on stands.. but careful of the face full o' dirty water

yes my car is a rhd. took abit of looking but found it when I removed the air intake. it was blocked with leaves and a large cable was keeping the flap shut. you wouldnt believe the amound of water there and also the amount that got into the car! its going to alot of time to dry out and clean the electrics. so thanks for the replies and cheers danglerb for the pics ment I knew what I was looking for and saved time poking around.
