Cheeeeeap 1990 928 GT on Ebay!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___1990-Porsche-928-S-4-GT-California-car-5-speed_W0QQitemZ320310735492QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20Truc ksQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320310735492&_trkparms=72%3A727%7C39%3A1%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245

Absolutely no affiliation with this car or it's seller, but doesn't this seem like a pretty good deal on a pretty nice looking GT? Carfax shows no problems and from this pictures provided, it looks like a really nice example. That's a 70K automatic S4 price tag on his BIN. Just birdoggin' for any of you guys that might be interested in a really cheap and original looking GT.

Wow, that does seem like a really good deal. It hasn't been driven much in the last 8 years though.

Granted, but just enough though to keep those seals from drying out......

Sold to a dealer on Thursday, up on ebay on Tuesday.

Fresh paint sounds like a respray too.

Too bad I enjoy being alive so much, wife would bury me if I bought number IV.

The guy must be kicking himself. Getting your BIN that quick means it was too low.

He obviously had no idea what he had. Definitely not a 928 guy who got it on the cheap from either a trade or auction and then made $500 selling it quick on Ebay. Oh, he's definitely kicking himself in the ass at how fast that BIN hit. Guaranteed, that's the last GT he'll be selling so low, if he ever gets another opportunity. Hell, those are the kinda deals I look for. Mike stole that car, without question!

Todd

P.S. Congrats Mike!

Read the thread on rennlist, SVP928 knows the seller, and this dealer looks for 928's and has sold them in the past. I'd say this is more a reflection on the economy and someone who can afford to plop down the cash on a unknown car.

From looking over the pictures more, and SVP928's endorsement of the dealer, I suspect its a nice car and a great deal, but I don't think its $5k of a great deal, maybe $2k or $3k under market price "unless" more than one person was ready to lay out a lot of cash. I know despite being tempted, I wasn't.

I see that. Regardless, I believe he could have sold it just as fast for $17,900 BIN.

Maybe, but if you were fairly sure of that, or if I was, one of us would have bought it and flipped it. Its splitting hairs, but my thought was it "might" sell, maybe after a couple listings for close to $18k, but it equally might have sold for no more than $14.9k. Frankly I wish the seller had not used a BIN and the auction played out.

Without a PPI and/or service history I don't think we can more than guess at which end of the price range this car will fall. With so few miles driven in the last 8 years its reasonable to expect a minimum of $5k in deferred PM, maybe double that for a fussy owner.

Agreed on all accounts. And yes, I really wish he wouldn't have thrown up that lowball BIN either. I think we're all curious as to just where that car would have ended up at had it been allowed to run it's course. But I think it's safe to say, the final number would've fallen somewhere right between your number and mine.

I'll get to see this car if the deal through. I know the buyer and actually helped him pick up a lift for his 'Shark Den' a couple of weeks ago. This will be #4 in his stable. It darn sure looks like he bought it right!
