msd ignition coil for my 81 sharky
would the msd ignition blaster 2 would make a difference from the stock bosch ignition coil???
|
Not unless your stock coil is bad.
The blaster 2 coil is high voltage at the expense of current, not great at high RPM. Great for american muscle that makes torque down low. |
I was also curious on this question. What would be a comparable alternative to the Stock Bosch?
|
OEM supplier.
Reliable, proven parts that generally fit and perform correctly for a long period of time. Aftermarket supplier. Lots of advertising and paid sponsorships, first item to suspect in case of trouble, may include decal for window. |

I've never advertised any modifications I've made to any of my cars. Just like Mr. Roosevelt once said, "speak softly & carry a big stick".

thanks

Redneck window tint.

No insult intended, just a funny.

Insults eagerly accepted. I'm the first to admit I have no taste.
My shark qwill never be a concours car, why bother. It's all about having fn. |

Wally Plumley once told me that any aftermarket ignition part you added to the 928 would be a DOWNgrade.
He said the stock ignition is so hot that it can quite literally kill you. |
Stock system is good and a CD type. However it can be upgraded. ADding a $30 autozone coil will not doit. The bLaster2 is a cheap lowend coil for SBCs etc..
GOing with the full MSD ignition with a highend coil is an upgrade and can provide spark north of 7000rpms.. That being said, foer most street sharks upgrading the coil will not give you any benefits as the stock system is capable of complete burns with a non modified shark enigne. I went full MSD to ensure full burn under nitrous spray. |
