Pimped My Tool Box Yo..
Got tired of a crappy stereo in the garage. Looked at a couple options like boom boxs, I-pod docks with speakers etc.. Saw a tool box at Lowes with a car stereo and fridge and was inspired. The tool box at Lowes had small 5.25" speakers built in to the lid. I wanted something bigger and removable.
So I got the parts together. 1. Cheap head unit w/ aux input for i-pod or my phone. 2. Cheap 6x9" speakers and boxes. 3. Battery charger with A/C power supply. Cut the top small drawer to fit the head unit. Ran wires into the top section. Top section holds 25' of speaker cable for each speaker. Top holds the battery box. Small holes through side of tool box for speaker wires and A/C power supply. Then mounted brackets on the sides for speakers to hang on. Ran the system today at moderate volume for over 2 hours off the battery box with out A/C. Speakers can be hung on the tool box sides, placed on top, or up to 25' away. Idea is if I roll the box on the trailer for track and show days, I have toons even with out A/C power. When transporting, speaker boxes fit in the top. Sounds surpisingly good for such cheap speakers. Really fills up the garage. Total price about $100. Not having X-ibit in my hood..priceless. :D Note my daughter's shark is in the garage now..things are moving along with it. Hope to have it running next weekend. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...9216048538.jpg http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...9215957880.jpg http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...9216087791.jpg http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...9216116872.jpg http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...9216175912.jpg |

You saw that tool chest as well huh! Its a doozy! I just got the SS Trinity 41inch from Costco....early present from the wife. I love it! I would add a radio but i would rather have the space IN it. My next garage will have the Lowes unit!

Seems like something odd and technical maybe, page info shows the image url as greyed out, as if I have somehow blocked loading images from that site. Sometimes the Renners can be pesky, but generally they aren't very technical, so maybe its something I can change on my end. Looking into anyway.
