what is in the middle of instrument panel incase in red with exclamation point is car telling me -- the same exclam. is on center console too!

That is the Reset button for the central warning light in the center console/pod. By pressing this button, you can turn off the warning light (!) for group "B" related problems like low windshield wiper fluid warning or tail light bulb is out warning. The individual warning light in the console will remain on as a reminder to have the fault corrected though.

The reset button does not apply to group "A" related problems...the serious problems, like belt tension warnings or brake problem warnings, these type of warnings will not be reset until the problem is fixed.

Its normal for it to come on when the car is first started, hand brake still on etc. Mine goes off after I release the hand brake, tap the regular brakes, and o2 sensor after it heats up (tap the accelerator or start driving).

If its on with no warning lights, chances are they are burnt out.

thanks for replies, 82 dash exclamation point, on the dash of 78 only half the left side is lit when got car it had started bought and got home and started twice it wont start at all new battery, grounds clean, new ignition switch, fuel pump, fp relay. no start at all had the auto shifter apart is there a switch in there and why now only have the left side is lit on instr panel




i did put battery in and i lost the bet to betting it starts as the 82 did the 78 did not.

I've been told the P and N switches are in the shifter thing, so that could be why it doesn't start.

I believe that switch that DanglerB is talking about is what switches the Starter Relay, which is why I just jumped mine. I would try that first. Jump your Starter Relay and see if that works.

the exclamation so none threatening 82 is running sound meaning no white smoke leading to head gasket damaged and is running sound as can be without a muffler WHAT DID YOU SAY got a muffler and sound pad going to use the car will be driveable ---- he inside whole dash pad with all lights bulbs connections and there housings all stuck in when pushed on most lights dont work lot of cleaning up and the dash pad and pod have new needs to go on. seats (all the leathers) all the corrison rust to lube soo things move the way they should. glove compartments leather warping inside was busting out of mice housing stuff.
