78 euro and newer 5yr old adopted 82 us
My newest family member a buddy for the 78 euro.
78 teal blk int the 82 grey brown tan interior have a 78 euro and all german writing in car. has no left front fender here there little things needed. Also was in need of fuel pump put new fuel pump , fp relay, here there little things. battery dont think was ever strong enough to power car but it did make instrument window lights everything work havent even tried much about running it yet. wanting to get my fender piece a whole car 1982 us bought yesterday supposed to be a parts car for the 78 fender. plus this or that and the other thing for 78. well setting for 3 yrs since 05 with all the mice nests , nuts, droppings, carcasses. here in NH there is snow, frozen up solid snow and leaves you know it sad looking inside and out. rolled the not running 78 out of garage put the 82 to have its looking at today took out all interior from the back it was all piled in there (new in plastic two piece dash overlay still in pkge) new parts right off bat to sell off or WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENS vacced it all out, dug my way down to battery, went and got battery, after taking a look at engine removed airfilter vacced it all out of the nuts and stuff, pulled the dip stick oil and lots of it , gas tank looks , smells good , now now not that it wont be replaced, but WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENS Install the battery car starts right up, throttle linkage stuck(greased it up,), some type exhaust box blown clear apart and no tip (was that the stock on 82, or added) of course smoke billowing out everywhere, eeek white (ok so might need head gaskets off ) and my question is,,, is that why the red exclam point/s are on for engine issues or does it come on for fuse relay issues or both if any kind of trouble. in the 78 the dash pods are triangles and yellow. no fuse or relay checked yet but did hit the pop up lights directionals but dont want to try much powered stuff as everything still pretty frozen, (thaw and lubricate first) the lights didnt go back down dont know if still cold or blew fuse at the moment. Body underneath everything real good shape. got to stick the new battery into 78 and see if it will start too. but outside covered and its snowing will wait to it stops HMMMMMMMM posting new topic which one do you keep. |

Starting up old cars is a gamble, but the bet isn't if it starts, but whether or not the old cracked mouse chewed hoses leak fuel and starts a fire. ;(
Safety check first. Make sure you pick the right one as a parts car. ![]() |

US front fender will be incorrect for the Euro-
Euro's had turn signal lights just behind the wheel opening. --Russ

tell my correct side passenger side that i know about fender was going or am going to drill and make one or fiberglass and close one. dont really care so long as both same. havent looked closely yet but is light itself wider on the 82 just at first glancing when looked at 82 picking up looked bigger. could be wrong could just stand out more its a lighter color car.

![]() Just make sure all the parts you might need or can sell are pulled off first. From a purely practical standpoint, I would pick the newest car, with the least body damage including any needed paintwork. I try to keep in mind these cars are NOT investments, they are TOYS, so play with them however its the most fun. My "guess" is that whichever you want to have in the garage the most is the keeper, exempting pulling parts time in the garage. |

The lights on the Euro that look like US lights, might not be factory lights, just something cheap that looks close put on by the importer.
