Custom gauges for 928 race car.
My buddy Jeff & I have been building a race car for the last few months: it's coming along, & I decided to put in custom gauges: here's what it looks like so far.
yellow tach with play-back & progressive shift lights 200mph speedo (to the right) warning & shift lights up top oil temp & pressure, both warning gauges water temp. Car is an '82 non-sunroof coupe, totally stripped. Partial cage to PCA roll-bar specs (8pt) turbo 86.5 engine, wiring, computers, brakes (w/slotted rotors), suspension Fikse wheels, full lexan 928intl rebuild S4 transaxle (LSD) + TT Aluminum bumper supports plasma-cut lightened to 6lbs each. doors reduced to 27lbs each hatch reduced to 32lbs w/lexan. Any guesses on final weight and what sort of cars you will be classified with?

4-post Direct-Lift with optional jack + jack-plate...wish the aluminum ramps were available then...steel are kinda heavy.

Mark--
just a suggestion: you might add a NASCAR type side bar group in case of door crash incursion. even if you left the crash bar in the door, your roll cage side bar isn't enough to prevent serious injury should another car get to you in the side---- I know, we P-car guys are suppose to be more civilized than the roundy rounders, but things do happen. ![]() --Russ

Our cage is not yet a cage: we'll have it modified this next fall to meet PCA Club racing specs. For now, we have a hell of a roll bar (8pt) & a time crunch to get the car running so we have ample time this year to dial the car in.
We have the year to get my co-driver up to par as he's a little behind in racing: so he'll be doing a lot of DE's to get up to snuff. ![]()
