Welcome to the world of Pcars. I was told about your car when it arrived. I haven't seen it around town yet. Looks good. There's a 'show and shine' coming up in July at Blatherskite Park. I hope to see your shark on display. Cheers |

1978 cashmere Beige
Hi all.....this is my Cashmere Beige (502)..1978 5sp with 89k on the clock..its #267...so would this be a low production #'ed car?....been looking all over/around the net...never seen another 928 in this color...was it rare?.....im not saying its the best looking color..lol...here in the AZ desert....park it out of the town or city...and you would never find it again...lol...it blends right into the desert soil..lol...anyways...as you can just see, the pasche interior is toast....as is the CIS system....but hope to have that sorted by next week....buying the whole system of "barbapapa"...all new or rebuilt...from his ex racer....
..forgot to say...this car as you see it was heading to the junkyard...A son owned it..was parked in his dads driveway for 5yrs...dad wanted it gone.."NOW"...bought it on a friday evening of C'list..it was to be towed saturday lunchtime to the junkyard...i paid $900 for it...will post a engine pic when i put it all back re: injectors ,WUR ,fuel dist etc http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1239586655.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1239586664.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1239586674.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1239586685.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1239586696.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1239586707.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1239586718.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1239586727.jpg |
Looks like a score to me! I like it!
|
Hi MPDano....thanks...been reading your posts on the other forums with the 45 pages!...glad to see you got your car smogged and reg'ed!...if you can do then so can i..LOL..although we dont have smog testing here in this part of AZ....cant wait to get her running right!....i have driven it...but it runs like s*#t....John
|
Yeah, I tried to document every part of the project process, hence the 45 pages. I am looking forward to painting her now. Before, with the smog issues, I was starting to think that I did all this work for a track car. Look at it this way, at least yours runs, mine had a seized engine. We'll get you sorted out!

Nice looking car, color is a bit unusual, but I've seen a few others.
Seems like only about the first 50 cars by VIN have any differences from the main production. |
what gets me with this car...is...how could you send it to the junkyard?!!...the house i got it from in Glendale(PHX) AZ...there was no shortage of money!...why not just send it in and have it fixed at a shop?...it was funny, going to the house...
the old man just bought a new 300c...and had to park it in the street...lol...he was not a happy camper...son didnt want to sell it....i guess father over powers son when they still live at home...lol |
That seems like a great deal, the paint and body are in very good to excellent condition and the interior, minus the seat bottoms, is very, very nice. Congrats!
|
Yes..body is very clean...most of the paint is still original...but it did have a few touch ups here and there...cant see it in the pic's..but you can when you look at the car in person...only bad spots are around the door handles...being alloy...pushing the doors closed too hard...today i was busy glueing all the vinyl back together...re: tops of door panels, hatch vinyl , carpet letting go etc...paint is just starting to peel off around the back/lower hatch...but not rusting out yet.....John
|
Solid color I think means you can do a fair amount of spot painting and blend it in to the original paint, which is MUCH cheaper than repainting.
Previous owners have to be nuts, I mean they sold a 928! ;) How nuts just varies on a case by base basis. |
My 928
Brian here,
Heres a pic of my daily driven 1980 gray market 928S. Had it around nine years and love it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1239613039.jpg |
Hey all, I'm outta Havertown PA...
Love the assortment of awesome 928's here, tons of great looking cars. Here's mine, another gray market car, euro block, 5spd, LSD, tons of exhaust work, super loud and mean. Recent body/paint work and it shows... Rear S Spoiler delete, adding S4/GT wing in progress, etc. http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0073_large.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0069_large.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0077_large.jpg __________________ Tech-944 1979 Euro 928, 5spd/LSD Loud, Fast and Bad A$$ |

1980 interior updates like the new porsches
1980 interior updates like the new porsches. Center dash and door pods are now painted aluminum. Pictures are a little blurry from my camera phone but the interior looks very sweet, the car just needed a fresh updated look to it.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1242241918.jpg
