Thank you for running that Doug. I do appreciate that. See any other things that might stand out or is everything else pretty much standard as far as the US 82s go?

The car does have full leather interior and I will be pulling the option codes from the back hatch area when I can. Currently I cannot get the hatch to open. =(

DougM 01-11-2012 02:46 PM

Those are your options posted. Every number following the M. You can goto 928 specialists site to see what all the other codes are.
The other items are your engine M28.16 and trans A22.01

whatudrivin 01-11-2012 03:18 PM

Just did that, thank you. I have been all over their site before but forgot that it was there. And learned my car has the alarm, which I thought it had. Good to know for future reference.

924CarreraGTP 01-11-2012 03:24 PM

mproseusa, interesting car. Not too many of those '82 Comp packaged cars. Cherish it buddy.

nuts4porsche 01-11-2012 03:50 PM

I think i have the comp. pack because mine has the ducts and plate and spoilers, didnt know about a comp. package.....?

mproseusa 01-11-2012 03:54 PM

924CarreraGTP, Thanks I have had the car since mid - 1997. I am the third owner (second owner was my uncle). With that car I've learned a lot more than I really wanted to. It is a lot of fun to drive and I do cherish it (especially, when I'm not working on it) ;)

924CarreraGTP 01-11-2012 05:51 PM

Alot of times you can tell the regular '82 model by there being spoilers, but not the upper spoiler brake ducts. They have to be cut into the nose. If they do have the ducts cut into the nose with the spoiler, but no actual boxed brake ducts behind the nose to the rotors thats a good indication that the parts were added. Most of the non comp package cars that had the parts added have something missing somewhere because these add ons were expensive. The real '82 with the Competition Package will have the option numbers and all of the ground effects that the 1983 S had. Including the flat disc wheels. The protector strakes down the side are what I believe to be a special order too because neither of my cars have them. I rather like the clean sides though.

nuts4porsche 01-11-2012 06:15 PM

i dont have those either, but i do have the adj. shocks with the ducts, and all spoilers, post a pic of a front end with the duct holes and i can verify- i do have Weissach badges

You can see the brake ducts on my '84. The spoiler has ducts on each side, but the ducts themselves are individual parts that slide up into the bumper cover above the spoiler.
http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/2717304970.html Here is a classic example of a non Competition Package car with added spoilers, but no upper brake ducts in the bumper cover.

I sort of got on to the idea that the 84-86 Euros are non-interference when I did my TB/WP change, because I had to turn the crank 180 degrees (Harmonic balancer on wrong way, long story short), and it just spun freely even when the cams moved away from their marks due to spring pressure.

Even the 21/22 motors come with different pistons depending on the country they were sent to. A high comp 10.5 to 1 motor with the proper cams WILL contact. Period. I have one. There may be a range that it won't contact but there is NO WAY a complete revolution can be made.

nuts4porsche 01-12-2012 05:38 AM

thats what mine looks like! same ducts

I've got a car that has spoiler without ducts.
Its an 84. (I also have 85 with factory spoiler delete)
Clearly the nosecone was replaced with an earlier one.
This is great news.
I've stripped the S spoilers and can easily make the front of the car have the clean early look that I like personally. Will need to fill the fender edge holes.

If you like the the S spoilers and want them on an old car, try swapping nosecones with somebody before you cut it up. The uncut nosecones are becoming desireable as guys fix up the early cars or strip the spoilers. If you cut one, though, check with Mr. Merlin because he did a write-up on it that was great.

nuts4porsche 01-12-2012 07:42 AM

im keeping it the same, dont want to take away from it,having this option is my car "rare"?
any feed back would be great, thanks

924CarreraGTP 01-12-2012 04:38 PM

Landseer, I would personally never change the spoiler profile on any early 928 to any profile other than how it came from the factory. It's unsavory unless you plan on building a race car. Early 928s take a lot of work to build into race cars and they are the only 928s that are becoming classics. So I wouldn't change one. I'm a purist.
Neil30076, my car is chiffon white. This nose picture at night doesn't do it justice. Chiffon white is a little bit darker of a white than the common grand prix white on most 928s. I like your car though. It's probably a special order if it's original paint.

Landseer 01-12-2012 05:57 PM

We are preparing a red 84 s to become a chiffon white, non spoiler car.
Its body was damaged by teenagers, so this is the way we will take it.

We have a pair of doors and a white fender to replace the bondo body panels.

It will be great. All the mechanicals were finished in 2008 and I've put 25000 miles on it since. But the body was dented and the respray blistered. It will be fabulous.

pcar928fan 01-12-2012 07:59 PM

You could order an S with spoiler delete from the factory if you wanted... Conversely you could order a Competition package 4.5L car (81/82), which in essence is a spoiler "add" package...

Thats the first convertible I have seen..... Not sure if I really like it.... Would have to see it with the top up. But it just doesnt have the lines that make the car appealing to me that is.

pcar928fan 01-13-2012 06:57 AM

That is one of the cleanest Cabrio conversions and I really do like it, but I am waiting for the superwide-body Red Hammertime cabrio to come up for sale! I am BUYING IT when it comes up! I just LOVE IT! I figure if you are going to get a bastardized 928, like a convertible, you might as well go ALL OUT and get one that is outrageous!

Thanks, I'm fortunate to own such a great automobile.

Yes it is Prussian Blue. Blue is my favorite but this color is amazing. Changes through out the day from purple in the morning and late evening to varying shades of blue during the day and almost black in the shade.

Was this owned by Hammertime? MC Hammer owned a bunch of Porsches at one time. I saw a blue Gemballa 911 he had in a magazine once.

Thanks Abby! For those that don't know, Abby looked up VIN's for myself and a number of others on TOS, specifically to research original dealer invoice prices. However, he was unable to uncover such information on my car, as it appears mine was never owned by PCNA. His, and his manager's, research led them to believe my car was likely a Porsche executive car when it was initially imported. An interesting bit of trivia, and I wouldn't have known it without Abby's help. Many thanks! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/pray.gif

That is what they say...I have other pics of this car with the plate "Hammertime" or something close to that anyway...that is to many letter, but the point is clear. Not for sure if this was one of his cars or not, but I know it as the hammertime 928. It is one of the many 928's that I am searching for!

Nuts4porsche, I had that remote controlled 911 Targa when I was about 6 years old. The gold on the Targa bar shines. Thats a cool one, but the coolest toy I ever had as a child was a Porsche 962C 1/10 scare remote control car. I ran it into a curb too fast and broke the steering arm. I never got it fixed and just broke the car even more. It was so awesome though. It was yellow and had racing numbers and all. I have a picture of me with it as a child. I'm tempted to post it, but we wanna see more 928s. lol
Pete R, the race car in the museum is awesome. Now tell me where I can get that rear hatch and spoiler for my 928. lol Somebody had one similar for a 944 back in the 1980's and '90s.

"79" with a few add-on's

Originally bought in Utah. Three owners later it found it's way to Detroit Lakes, MN where I bought it in 2001. 117K when I parked it this year.
