Cam timing
Well I found out why shes blowing OUT the airflow meter, the local(meaning nz agents)porsche workshop set the cams up no less than 10 teeth out on the pulleys.I have since found out that you set the cams with the two bronze coloured links on the chain to set with cast knobs on the cams. Can anyone tell me or send a pic of which of the two knobs(or horns really)on the cam that you set the chain to?I have figured out the pulley settings it's just the cams themselves i'm having probs with.Beautiful donks these things are, just very precise i think.
Any help will be gratefully received guys, not many cars over here and as far as I know I'm the only one racing with these engines. |

Not sure..
Hello again. Milk and cookies kept me awake.
I am not sure exactly what you wanted as far as timing marks or cam marks or what...And I have no idea what kind of engine you have..16v or 32v However.. Look here. If that site and the links it gives you aren't good enough...let me know. Hec, let me know if it does it for you. http://www.928s4.com/project/belt.htm G'Day mate. |

S4 motor, this is what you need.

I've got that info, need to get the setup for the cams themselves

Porsche has a special tool that fits over two cam lobes to do the base setting of the chain between the cams. If thats what your looking for, insanely long and confused article on rennlist by I think Mark Kibort.

Neil,
I am pretty close to you regarding time, however in answer to your question (Am in the same boat as you regarding work)....This is what you need & hope this helps; 32V'r - cam timing tool Check/adjust your 32V cam timing without removing the cam covers! Easily replace a cam gear! Get the right tooth the first time when installing a new timing belt! Syncronize for smooth power, advance for more grunt off the line (eg. auto), retard for maximum horsepower. With any stock 32V cam set, it will always show the factory intended timing! Can be used with custom cams too! Because using the dial indicator is difficult to do properly, most 32 valve engines have uneven valve timing, and there's no accurate way to modify the timing by degree. http://www.liftbars.com /home.htm#PKsnr Roger is floating here on the forum here somewhere but he can hook you up with one....just tell him Pat from Italy hooked you up, you will be happy with his great service.
