VIN 928820038 on ebay

Kinda rough looking, but not horrible, BIN is $1600 with one offer pending.

Relisted with no reserve. Seller says he is listing it for an auto auction, so maybe that was the glitch before.

Call me twisted, but I don't think its in that bad condition - judging by the inside rear quarter panels its been stored inside away from baking sunlight. Other than the remnants of tape stuck on the outside the paint also looks reasonable, assuming its original.

A carpet set and gear knob and putting the bits back in place would do wonders!

I'd love to find a RHD '78 manual car in that kind of condition to fix up.

I think this is another no brainier guys. There is even room to make an offer!
I wish it was closer to me as we would not be talking about it now. Based on what I see there are about $2500 worth of parts in cars in this condition, Think about past adds for $500 fenders and hoods.
Drive train parts for the 5 speed cars are crazy when you need them. The inside parts never hold up very well and can be replaced .
I know I will get blasted by the guys who would offer them $100 for the whole car but I believe in saving parts for later and not being sorry.
They are not making anymore 5 speed cars and will be rare one day and not cheap.
Look back at all those $500 Mustangs we tore up in the late 60's I sold a 69 car for $500 when in high school ! Talk about stupid !

Five minutes with the car and yes/no might be obvious.

Parting a 78 is limited, its CIS which doesn't store well, so core parts to rebuild, 78 and 79 used vacuum door locks, clutch changed in 80 I think, so many of the usually profitable parts don't work with 80+ cars and that kind of limits sales.

I think it would be a shame to part this early of a car providing it isn't screwed up (repainted, non matching numbers, parts swaps or missing).

climate control and center vent specific to 78
center console 78-79 only IIRC
spindles necessary for big brake upgrade on all cars up to 86.5
1/4 and rear hatch trim
manual seats
wonder if it has the stainless steel gas cap

not bad

I saw it (the ad) a bit ago. Good OG OB. Who knows what is wrong with it. For the right person, It could be a good gamble. At least the seller seems to be honest about it.

4hours left..1 Pending offer...The suspense is killing me...Still no one has bit at a BIN of 1600. 38 COULD be a lucky number for someone.

Totally makes no sense, why did the seller list with offer and then reject three offers of $100 less than the BIN? $1500.

Human behavior

The only peace I find in this world is when I stop trying to figure out other people. You would think that 15 wasn't such a bad price. Perhaps the CO wants more and therefore has decided to fix it up....I duno. We will most likely see it again. I think it was also posted on CL.
