crank belt gear removal
Hi,
Is the belt gear on the crankshaft keyed so it should slide over the woodruff key? Or do I need to remove the key somehow to get the gear off? 82 Euro. Thanks for the help! |

yes.
you can remove the key, but it's unnecessary for gear removal. --Russ

Removing that gear can take some serious patience. Advice I was given, each time it sticks means its cocked and you need to slide it back and try again.

I'm going to try grabbing it with some channel locks wrapped in duct tape and see if I can get it that way...

I think I used a good Kroil soak and a couple pry bars at various stages, but mostly its careful slow wiggling.

For the sake of anyone else that runs into this problem - I ended up cleaning up the woodruff key with a small file and wire-brushing the area too. Finally got it to come off. Thanks for all the suggestions.
