More motor picts, new flat valve design
I'm tearing down two motors right now, Euro S2 and US, both 85/86.
Picture of the rattle can detail on the S2. ![]() Hard to see, but there is a about a 1/4 inch gap between the cam lobe and lifter. ![]() Check out the new FLAT valve design. ![]() Bores looking good so far, except so dirty, soaking in Marvel Mystery oil. ![]() More bores. ![]() |

I'm envious, looks like fun! What’s your plan for these? Making a good one out of both, transplant into an early ob, or just squirreling away some parts?

I have a set of 16v race cams sitting in boxes on a shelf waiting for me to sort out the last details of how the motor will be done, then I'll build a Euro hybrid using one of the two 85/86 blocks I have. I suspect I will fix the heads and sell the parts I don't use, but I might decide to sell the parts as is and let the buyer's mechanic do the heads however they want.
I was thinking pretty hard about building a 85/86 32v motor with bigger valves, hotter cams, but I think that I may stick with 16v motors. Tightening my focus feels like the right direction for now, otherwise its too tempting to buy another 928, and that might not prove good for my health. ************ 83 US 5 spd Zinc metallic no sunroof, my nice car. 85 Euro S 5 spd, black, track maybe car. 84 Euro S AT, almost parted out and gone. |
