power steering pump

Any tips on changing one on a 1982 928 S Euro? Any tips on where to get a rebuilt one for less than $250?

Buy a kit, pelican I think has a rebuild kit, otherwise 928intl or ************ does. Kits are I think less than $30 depending on model, and take maybe an hour or so to do even the first time. Replace the filter at the same time, and make sure none of the hoses are leaking.

New crush washers all around as well.

Reading the directions for the kit a REAL plus.

There's gotta be a catch - you make it sound so easy. Just a simple rebuild kit? And it will get the pump working again for $30? Sounds too good to be true. As you well know, nothing on these cars is ever easy to replace. Are sure sure not forgetting something, something difficult? Like first having to climb a beanstalk and kiss the wart on a giant's big toe without getting eaten?

Two styles of pump, two different kits, using the directions for the wrong pump I did my first one OK.

OTOH I really can't remember if I used a hydraulic press or not, and if I used it I can't remember if that turned out to be a mistake and took apart something I didn't need to or not.

This is what one kit looks like.
