Petri, you have the most beautiful looking car going and I admire your work greatly. Please keep us posted. Your sense of proportion and overall impression is really good and actually carrying out a plan is something special.
Thanks, Mark for the response. I admire your excellent engine modifications _0_ , I wouldn't mind of seeing something like under my 'max' hood some day .

I think I haven't seen any 928 wide bodywork which only makes 928 wider using its own bodyforms, only extending it smoothly and as quiet way as possible, not trying to alterate it to some other car: worse bodyworks were 80ies 'testarossa'like bodyworks.
Even the best Strosek designs do change the form and height of the wheel arch extensively different. A strong part of the original characteristics of 928 bodywork is a form of the wheelarch: not sharp and geometrically round, but formed softly square-like to fit the bodyforms. It is one of the issues which should be kept in original form even if widening the car.
Also the overall shape of the corners is very delicate to follow even if exacurating with the width.

That is what I'm trying to achieve with the 'max' version.
I don't mind other references linked here as a base for the discussion, they are ok as long as credits are correct according to origins.

I will keep you posted .

Sort of off topic but have you ever thought about improving the front aerodynamics of the lights by using a 993 Sort of Lights mounted similar to 968.
I saw another forum member mod 993 lights to fit 968 and i think it could look good on your car and improve aero.

I did some refreshing for the blue street 928 meanwhile:

Porsche Mahogany Leather is the color. It is great to have at least one Porsche with air con & comfortable seats instead of racing seats and 6-point belts
This car I've had since 1990, so it has sort of emotional value as well to keep it maintained.

Blue was dressed for thi season with Strosek frontal and side skirts. Wide body application is still missing, front archs are now in moulding process and rear archs will be GTS archs. Hopefully redone for the next season.

Suspension will be also modified for next season with 928motorsport packages, like we have done now for four 928 cars in our garage.

We have been building race car for my brother and that particular car turn out to be a bed for our moderate widebody mouldings. These pics are about the fabrication of mould pieces.

Target is to make very discreet 928 front archs which looks very much like 928 original, but allows 265-275 /18 tyres to front. They will be 40-50mm wider per side and we will make high quality moulds for the complete corner pieces. They will be a matching pair with GTS-style rear archs.

Thx for response.

Front archs (and rears as well) are available Soon from us as with top-coat ready finish. www.gtracer.fi

Rear GTS a-rchs are available already from couple different sources around the world, but for the front arch widening with 928 looking design none. I would have bought it.

You can find couple of racing archs, which are either a way wider and/or their form is not 928-style smooth and non noticeable.

Front archs are under process to go to the mould in this fall, and we will sell them with 928 GTS rear archs.

The ultra wide racing body will come after (shown here earlier in this thread). I will put some pics of that project as soon as I get back to Finland and back to garage.

If you mean side skirts and front bumper of the blue 928, you can find them from www.strosek.de

That one is a bad replica of original Gemballa 928 wide body. If you like that particular outlook, Gemballa is back in business as a company even if Mr. G. unfortunately passed already.

The last trip of the season to Nürburgring with our street 928 cars... I had finally new suspension and Big Reds mounted in my blue oldtimer. I was 23 years ago first time in Nordschleife with this very same car... some nostalgy in trip.

Oldtimer worked perfectly: 40 laps during long weekend and plenty of Autobahn miles with high speeds. Hilarious . We also stopped to Classic Remise (ex Meilenwerk) to spot some other great classics.

Results of testing this season our new coilover street suspensions (black with 600# / 300# springs, blue with 700# / 500# springs) with several setups were quite promising. Race cars will be set with 1000# / 700# springs as the 700# / 500# proved to be better in track behaviour than one with softer rear... I wouldn't make this a rule, but rather personal taste and depending on driving style. Easy 8.20-8.30 BTG laps with 288hp S3 Euro engine. This department needs upgrade in future, but for now concentration is finally (after 3 kids, youngest 8 weeks now) in our track 928 cars with 4 different engine layouts to alterate.

We are preparing now 4 x 4.7 egines to following:

4,7 US spec low compression to 0 hours biturbo (for sprint races and time attack)with intercoolers:
performance target: appr. 450hp

4,7 Euro Spec -83 to 0 hours with state of art camshafts, larger valves, ported heads, stiffer springs NA (for sprint races and time attack) with MSD and X-over.
performance target: appr 360hp

4,7 Euro -84 to 0 hours standard NA (for sprint races) with MSD and X-over:
performance target appr. 310hp (standard)

4,7 US spec low compression to 0 hours with -83 Euro camshafts, higher compression pistons (for endurance races) with MSD and X-Over.
performance target appr. 290hp

As we are finishing those two race bodies: 'wide' and 'max wide' we can combine these engines to those bodies depending on event.

Street 928 S4 cars, my blue and my brothers black will get stroking treatment with some other mods to be nice 400hp NA engines... time has gone since, but still the plans remains same. MOst of the parts are already purchased and machined, some still missing. The time to do is probably the major problem...

As all other our engine maintenance and upgrade procedures are quite conservative and standard, the biturbo application obviously is the most interesting.

I have great experiences of my old K-jet RUF BTR car with oldfashioned 'engine management' and we are planning of doing an old school K-jet turbo also from this 4,7L v8 engine.

Starting point is US low compression 4,7L engine, (with appr. 1:9,0 compression) which we are alterating with thickest Cometic metal head gasket down to appr. 1:7,8 which is quite near of RUF BTR 1:7,5 ratio. RUF has used also 1:6,5 ratio in some engines, but we try to use as many standard parts as possible including pistons and rods. Only bearings and piston rings to be renewed.

Here is rough sketch of supposed turbo layout as we are switching sides and turning upside down standard manifolds (for now) to set turbos behind front wheels.

We chose to use Borg Warner turbos from 996 Turbo with internal waste gates to keep system simple.

We are aiming to get fresh air through front archs outside of engine bay. Intercooling will be arranged with 3 cooler combo using old air filter box as a 3rd cooler.

We know well that we will have some interesting time to adjust WUR and airflow and fuel management mechanically. But if we can make this work, this will be interesting concept for classic rally and racing cars to different historic classes .
