Found orginal key

I was adjusting my parking brake just behind the seat next to the seat belt anchor. After I got done adjusting it I thought I would pull off the handbrake cover and vacuum the whole section, because for whatever reason it was the only area I didn't take apart and clean when I first got the car. To my amazement I found an original Huf long alarm key with the lighted head for my car. No surprise the battery was completely rusted but the key works great.

When I got the car it only had one key. The guys at keys for classics told me it was a very poorly cut copy but that they would be able to cut a new one from the photo of the bad one. There new key works great but most amazing is that it is virtually identical to the original that I just found. So if you need a key and have any doubt, they can definitely do it, albeit rather on the pricey side. Then again what part of our cars isn't pricey. Oh and if you ever thought you don't need to replace your battery that it won't leak, it will. Anyway I thought it was cool, and just wanted to share.

Very cool. Take a wire brush to it and get it working again.

Evaporust is what I like, wire bush does too much damage.

OTOH the HUF key snaps out of the head and a new head is $25.

As I started to clean it out the wire spring broke into pieces and the plastic piece that you press for light has fused to the battery. I don't really need the light to work but I think I will get a new head and swap it out for the heck of it.
