Question about coolant
So there I was driving along without a care in the world, when someone pulled up and motioned for me to roll down my window, so I was thinking it was just another admirer looking at my freshly detailed machine, instead, the guy yells, "something is leaking from your car" as I pulled over the central warning light along with the coolant low light came on, but a quick look at the temp gage showed normal, so I drove it home, stopping every two miles to add water to the coolant over flow tank, the temp never got above normal, but I must have put 20 gallons of water in the car getting it home, anyway the problem is the small rubber heater hose, that goes from a pipe on the intake, to the hot water shut off valve for the heater, this hose and valve are just hanging there, I went out and bought distilled water, and antifreeze approved for aluminum engines.
Now the question, what's the best way to drain the block?, and refill with no air bubbles?, how should i make sure the air is bled out of the system?. Should this small rubber hose connected to the water valve, just hang there? I looks like it is not attached to anything what about adding a water wetter to the mix? any idea's would help, and thank you to all that respond - take care - Tom |

I was all set for a long thread about which coolant is the coolest.
![]() (its VW/AUDI stuff) While your in there, I'd replace the heater valve, and maybe the rubber hose on the other side.. Block has two places to drain the coolant, and radiator has one on the bottom. Hopefully somebody will post a picture, as the ones on the block look like bolts. |
