| Registered | Gym time for the 928?
Every year we all run to the gym in January to try to get in shape or lose weight. Well here's a question for all y'all (plural here in TX). Does someone out there have a list of items you can remove from a 928 to drop its weight? I know, I know, start with the driver. :-) I'm envisioning components that could be reinstalled at a later date (once you decide speed isn't everything or to sell). Not components that impact daily driving, I'm not talking about making a track car. Living in S. Texas (where it's NEVER going to rain again) I could remove the rear wiper. Not a serious topic, wanted to start a "fun" topic and I am a bit curious. I'm just happy I finally got my sunroof working and my AC is now functioning normal (vacuum leak....was blowing hot air on acceleration) just in time for the real summer heat. Next up dome lights, wheel bearings, and rear wheel spacers/lugs. | ||

Have at it, at the rear seats. Gives you more room too.

There is a official weight loss thread on rennlist, and a couple long ones here too. Short answer is that the first 300 or so lbs comes off pretty easy, the next 200 or so aren't so easy and includes things people usually like in a street car, and the last 200 or so lbs end you up with a full out bare race chassis. Reinstall at a later date is going to be mostly the first 300 lbs, depending on what you think is reasonable to reinstall. One thing you will learn quick is that most of the car is made of insanely light weight materials for what it is. In search of ... Best thing is to look over all the weight loss threads, consider the options, and what you plan to do with the car, then work from that. The idea of "putting it back later", I think is only practical if you have a really special car which you shouldn't be screwing with in the first place, or make only the most minor first steps.
