Which way does little hole in thermostat face?

Just purchased a new thermostat for my 86 porsche 928. It has the little weep hole with the small ball bearing in it. Should the little hole be at 12 oclock or 6 oclock? Thanks :)Nel

12 O clock or straight up. Also make sure the rear seal if fitted is replaced and that a new front sealing O ring is fitted

Thank You! I got new seal and o ring.

I ordered the new rear seal as well. Was a pain in the butt to get the old one out. There was no rubber left on the old one just the metal ring. I was running a little too hot and think this might help me out a little. Also ordered a 75 degree thermo and fan switch. Some new coolant and a little water wetter and well see how she works:) Thanks again.

to get the rear seal out simply take a long screw driver and fit it to the edge of the seal and drive it inwards on its circle this will deform it and then it can be pulled out with your fingers. Goodluck on your project
