32v timing

I have a question about timing on 88 s4.

While checking belt tension I noticed pass side rear cam mark wasn't inline with v.

Ordered 32vr timing tool and confirmed it was 5 degrees retarded.

I advanced pass side to 2 degrees advanced as instructed turned crank twice

now its at 1 degree advanced. Now I checked drivers side and it is at 3 degrees

advanced.

(1) Would having pass side 5 degrees advanced and drivers side 3 degrees

advanced effect the health and performance and in what way.

(2) If I were to just advance the pass side to 3 degrees advanced to match

drivers side because its a little easier, would this be asking for trouble.

(3) Should I just set everything back to factory 0 degrees.

(4) Leave it where it is. When the engine is warm, both sides will be 3° advance.

The factory setting is cylinders 1-4/right/passenger = -2° (2° retard), and 5-8/left/driver = 0°, with a used belt, engine cold. (When the engine is warm, the 1-4 side advances 2° as the engine expands.)

Notes:
  1. A new belt will retard about 2° on the 1-4 side, so with a new belt, set both sides to zero, then recheck at 1000 miles.
  2. For best results, unplug the EZF, or take out the fuel pump fuse, and spin the engine with the starter after adjusting to equalize belt tension.
  3. Often when you adjust the 1-4 side, because of counter belt stretch, it will 'lose' 2° after you rotate the engine, so you should set it 2° advance of what you want.
