First you should have gotten about 8qts out of the trans did you drain the torque converter??
To fill the system i use the hand pump and the new 5 qt bottles of Dextron 3/4.

Fill the tank after removing the cap, once the reservoir tank wont take any more run the engine for about 30 seconds, shut is off then continue filling , repeat this process a few times till the tank doesnt drop down.
Then you can run the engine while final topping up is done, run the trans through the selectors to let each one fill back up

Also did you replace the pan gasket and filter??
The fill is the done after removing the red cap

Yup, that's why we are here. We've all done most of what is posted here, so best to get hands on advice. Yes, you will need a hand pump. My reservoir was very dirty and you couldn't see the top-off line, so I removed it and cleaned it completely. Good that you also drained your TC as old fluid will only make your new fluid bad. It's a patience procedure as it takes a long time to fill with ATF.
