Intermittant Timing belt light?

Hey guys question.

I have a 1987 928S4 auto 118K miles.

It has a poor running issue that is driving me nuts. I mess around with it find an issue... fix it and the car runs well for some time. Then it out of the blue runs bad and then the timing light will come on.

I only go .6 miles to work so the first time it came on it freaked me out. But when I went to go home that night... no light and it remained off for a month. This is with more mileage around town and such. So maybe 1000K miles on the car and then starts running bad again... and bingo light comes on.

Shut the car off and restart it... no timing light.

Should I be concerned or does it sound like an anomoly? The PO replaced the belt at 96K miles. So I should have quite a bit of time (if it was done properly) before I need to replace it.

On the same but different topic.
What the F is wrong with this mother!?

Symptons... seems to be misfireing... and running too rich. I found bad coil wires and replaced all the ignition wires. (badly corroded wires at coil end inside coil)

Pulled MAF and inspected boots-looked ok. Ran car and unplugged MAF... did not seem to make a difference in idle. I was told if MAF was bad this would show a change when unplugged. No difference.

Found various bad vac lines and replaced.

Has recent plugs. Less than 1500 miles on them.

Another symp... idle is high. at 1000-1100 when not in gear... 900 when in gear.

Tried other suggestions durring older post. Checked for clicking TPS and such and a buch of other things I can not recall.

But any suggestions are welcome... plus... should I freak and get the timing belt and tensioner done now? Which means park the car until I have buco cash? Unless there is a 928 tinkerer in NH who would not mind helping me change a timing belt? :-)
