Noob stuff - hardly.

Noobs buy cars with the wrong brains and a million other problems, like beginnings of TBF. torque tube trouble.........

Noobs don't don't know pre 85 US cars are down on power a bit. The 85-86 cars can be chipped and are interference. The euro's have the power and can be sharktuned but not chipped and are non-interference. The 87+ models have great engines but are interference and more complicated.

Noobs don't know 87+ auto's start in 2nd gear, the euro starts in 1st. The standard gearing is taller in the 87+ That 87's have piston squirters, the GTS's burn oil. Noobs don't know with cars have LSD.

Noobs don't know about the water pump issues or worn cam gears. The list is endless.

So noobs should read a LOT then search for the right car and be prepared to pay for it.

Nationwide less than a handful of really nice 928's are sold each year. Everything else, squirter blocks, 93 GTS rods, digital dashes, low power OBs, all that stuff pales to the opportunity to own a really nice 928 of any flavor.

The reason all those issues are important in an average 928 is that average 928's are going to suck $10k to $15k out of your wallet before they ever get close to nice, and most never get that close because they aren't perfect fits to the owner who gives up before the job is done, and the owner never gets to know how great it is to drive a really well sorted 928.

Besides I'm not convinced that until someone owns a few different types of 928 that they fully appreciate what each has to offer.

compression is not nearly as hard to tune around for forced induction as timing is: the Euro LH 84-86 cars supposedly have very aggressive timing tables: making it nearly impossible to turbocharger/supercharge. I don't think Speake has a ST that will pull that back yet.

The Mk 1 SharkTuner has a LH2.2 and EZ-F option that allows you to fully tune a stock or supercharged or turbo'd Euro 16v (or US/Euro 32v 85/86). There's also a SMAF option for these early LH cars.

John Kuhn has even fitted a diiferent MAP sensor in the EZ-F of a turbo'd car and successfully remapped the igntion for boost.

The Euro 16v 84-86 and the US85/86 32v both have very conservative ignition timing. This is beause they don't have a knock control system. This is why people have boosted these cars without blowing them up :-)

It is possible to Sharktune a Euro 16v or US 32v and get more power across the board. This the basis of Porken's offerings for these cars.
