How many is enough

I haven't even got my '80us finished, and Im already thinking about trying to aquire an S4. (If my wife lets me live) Who needs 2 sharks anyway? (I do!:p:D)

Did I contract something on this thread?

Regards, Kerry

You'll find that you can never have too many:)

tedward515 09-28-2009 03:43 PM

Unless the significant other says so;)

MPDano 09-28-2009 04:18 PM

Yeah, I am also planning an S4 or GTS purchase sometime in the not so near future, but I will get my two, dammit!

If I had more space I would be in big trouble, as it is I have a parts car still my garage, one in my driveway, and one parked at a friends shop. If the wind had blow the other way just a bit I would have bought number 4, even though I have no place to put it.

I think MPDano thinks like me on this. Get 1 and fix it up right before becoming a 928 junk yard.

Fix 1 to where it is equal to or better than showroom. Replace and refresh all mechanical parts. then fix the interior, new carpet, new leather if needed, speakers whatever. Then update the wheels and new top notch paint not maaco.

Once you have done 1 right then go after another if you can afford it, but why have a handful of basketcases?

Mike, just do what Blythe did. Go to Sears and buy a Saws All and a few blades and cut it up. Instant room for your GTS.

928 collection

I typically have the middle of the road approach, i.e. fix up the old one (new paint reliable mechanicals etc.) no concours stuff. However, the next one I hope to buy
in NNTR condition.(Not needing total restoration).:)

Danglerb 09-29-2009 07:28 AM

The trick is if you spend all your money fixing one, you don't have enough to buy any more. I could have 6 or 7 projects if I didn't dump the money into my two pet pits. Worse part is that at least a couple of the cars I didn't buy would have been in better shape than at least one of the pits. Course a year ago nobody thought S4's would be selling for less than $3k.

While I genuinely want to get rid of my parts car, I have a title so getting the stripped to nothing chassis hauled away is no issue. Removing all the parts I want to keep, or at least learn to remove, and finding a place to put those parts is the hard part.

928 parts

Speaking of parts, I could use a passenger side door window, and both my motor/regulators are shot. Anyone?

MPDano 09-29-2009 07:42 AM

I can store all those parts for you Mike! On my 928 ;)

I would ask Blythe (BB500). He just disassembled his OB.

Danglerb 09-29-2009 09:43 AM

Let me know if BB doesn't have them. I should have my doors off and apart from my parts car before Sharktoberfest.

Other than this thread, is there a eay to contact BB?
If not, I'd be interested in some of your parts. I'm in southern Nevada, but I go to
to Cali all the time. (relatives)

I sent BB a pm on Rennlist.
