What Color Should I Get?
hello, as a lot of you know, my sharkie got runded into the other day. i figured since i was going to have to repaint a panel, i might as well do the whole car WTAIT. i was thinking about paining it slate grey like the new 911TT's but i kind of like having a COLOR on the car, not just grey. But i still want the slate grey. i would color match the wheels to the slate grey as well. do you guys have any ideas on what colors look good on these cars? how about body + wheel color combinations? im fighting with myself because part of me wants a deep color but another part of me wants this color:

That car looks BADASS!
Color Combo looks great! I would go for it! Rim color too. |
Yeah, I'm partial to that gun-metal gray too. My 5 series is that color. If I had the funds I would repaint the 928 in it, but I don't, so I'll be sticking with the original gold when I have my body work done and the passenger fender sprayed.

My car is Slate Gray metallic.....The black or silver looks best I think. Here are a few photo shopped pics someone did of my car to see what black would look like.

You don't need to look for a new place to spend money on a 928. Maybe consider fixing the brakes etc. first, good tires, running good, etc.
Also don't count an insurance check before its cashed. |

Oak Grun that's Oak Green...... a dark green. Not too many painted that color (I've only seen one other, not that it matters much). picture was taken on a sort of overcast day, so the color really doesn't come out well in the picture. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1256686396.jpg --R |
im thinking of doing either a slate grey paint job or a meteor grey paint job with color matching wheels and a yellow pinstripe around the lip of the wheel.

Very Rice and Very Nice. Black Rims are just the BEST ever. I'm not jaded at all.
Also, yup that's Russ's 928. But without his Sidepipes. |

Velvet Red Metallic (81L), FTW! Of course I'm biased. :D

I agree the velvet red is a great color, especially on the S4 and later cars.

damnit..... i really want a blood red car but i want a meteor grey car too....along with a british racing green car, a midnight blue car, and a chrome yellow car.

Me thinks late model Iris Blue Metallic is a very cool color...

are you sure thats iris blue? because photos on google of iris blue look like a gay baby blue color, not that awesome blue....
|
I think there are two different Iris blue colors. The early color and the later color. I myself think the later is much better. In fact there is a guy in Tampa that had his euro s repainted in the later Iris blue IIRC. Its very sharp. I'll try to find a link for it.

I was in the same boat as you a few years back- the champange metallic was old and fading and I'm a blue car guy... I went with LAPIS blue from Porsche. I did the new car dealer walk thru with a notepad in hand looking for the curviest bodystyles. Audi also has a similar metallic blue, but the Porsche engineers had it right- when the light hits the rear curves...
(in the overcast a slight purple hint- check it out.) Pics do not do it justice- get out there and see it for yourself. I think it was 2005/2006 Cayenne. |

It is the later Iris Blue Metallic. It is a bit lighter than lapis blue, but not as light a cobalt blue.
Color code in door is... 39V 9 3 MS IRISBLAUMETALLIC http://www.zipbang.com/928gts/928gtsfront.jpg I had a Lapis blue boxster, it looked more like a dark navy blue... http://www.zipbang.com/986Boxster/BoxsterBlur.jpg |
I must mention that I was never a fan of 928's but that is, hands down the best looking Porsche I have ever seen a picture of. Not even the perfect proportions of the long hood 911's look as good as a 928 in that color!:)
